The Alchemy of Desire

A gathering of floozies and puppets . . . A handsome young singer, fresh from the road . . . In September 2012, we offered our patrons “The Alchemy of Desire.”

Floozies Torri Ashford and Vanessa Ellen Henstchel mixed and mingled amongst the patrons, and entertainer James Taylor, Jr. premiered “Is It Real?” a song created for the Poppy by Joe Stacey.

Megan Harris‘ creations – small versions of The Chevalier and Miss Lucinda, whose life-sized presence will grace the final Poppy event – were introduced, and Pan Loudermilk held court in the curtained back room, while the drinks that won the Poppy blog cocktail contest were deployed by the Oakland Art Novelty Co. The Peacock Room and Cyberoptix Tie Lab were fashionable sponsors, and sponsor DYE Salon donated all the evening’s hair and make-up services, under the expert supervision of James Gregory (seen here with Torri Ashford).
