Under the Poppy Farewell Performance
Our patrons agree . . .
I’m still basking in the afterglow. It was everything I was hoping it would be, and so much more. The acting, the atmosphere, the passion (the office scene with Rupert and Istvan? HOT), and the floozies were sexy as hell.
GREAT SHOW!!!!! What an excellent night – your cast was awesome.
All of the actors performed flawlessly amid, around, and through the audience, and you could feel, smell and experience every detail … you were *inside* the performance, living it, not simply a witness to it. You’ve never experienced anything like this before.
We SO enjoyed ourselves at the Poppy . . . A fantastic performance from the lovely cast, magical venue, & LOTS of stimulating images forever seared into our gray matter. I’d like to add here, HOT as a pistol!
It is a remarkable thing to have the pages of one of my favorite books brought to life like it was tonight. Thank you for a truly magical night.
What a cool experience … [Y]ou leave wanting more.
Farewell, dear Poppy, as you draw your curtains. I can’t wait to visit you again!
Four sold-out performances of love, betrayal, and desire, including a premium evening’s concert by Austin-based composer and entertainer Joe Stacey . . . The Poppy pleased its patrons, who traveled across town and across the country, to share an experience like no other.
The brothel has closed in Detroit . . .
The brothel never closes.

Not for the first time I find myself wishing that Wales was closer to Detroit, or that a simple command of ‘Beam me up Scottie’ would get me to the brothel quicksticks. Alas with neither of those options open, instead I will have to turn the lamps low, fill my glass with absinthe and snuggle up with my well-thumbed copy of Under the Poppy. With you in spirit if not in person!
